Interim Finance Professional

Job description

An international business with operations spanning multiple regions is seeking a seasoned and qualified Interim Finance Professional for a 2-3 month fixed term contract. This hybrid role, based in Tunbridge Wells, requires a detail-oriented, highly organised qualified accountant who excels in complex, multi-entity environments. This role would suit someone who has operated at Financial Controller / Financial Director level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Reporting & Analysis: Oversee monthly internal reporting across multiple regions, aligning with Group standards, and providing insightful variance analyses against forecasts.
  • Statutory & External Reporting: Manage statutory reporting and submissions, including VAT returns, R&D claims, government and insurance returns, and external audit preparation.
  • Month-End Closure: Lead month-end processes, ensuring accuracy in account reconciliations, ledger review, and intercompany balancing.
  • Adjustment Approvals: Review and approve adjustments, including accruals, prepayments, payroll, and intercompany reconciliations, maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Ensure precise fixed asset postings with accurate depreciation and amortisation aligned with company policies.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Strengthen internal controls, conducting balance sheet reviews and resolving issues in advance of formal reporting.
  • Cash & Treasury Oversight: Manage daily ledger activity and cash flow across multiple entities, including overseeing bank payments, cash forecasting, and supplier payments.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiencies and enhance reporting structures, including Chart of Accounts, to streamline group, statutory, and tax reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship to the Finance team, supporting their development and performance while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification required, with a proven record in finance leadership.
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP and finance systems, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and streamline processes.
  • Technical Accounting: Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting principles.
  • Advanced IT Skills: Expertise in Microsoft Excel and strong general IT skills.
  • Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated numerical confidence, meticulous attention to detail, and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Critical Thinker & Problem Solver: Outstanding troubleshooting skills, able to evaluate complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently interact with senior management and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organised & Detail-Oriented: Strong documentation and organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
  • Mentorship Ability: Skilled in coaching and advising team members, with a collaborative approach to team success.
