Legal Secretary

A highly respected, busy law firm with an established client base are currently seeking a Legal Secretary to join their friendly Private Client team, based in Tunbridge Wells.

This role will initially be on a fixed-term contract for 10 months (covering a period of maternity leave) but has the potential to go permanent thereafter.

The successful Legal Secretary will primarily support multiple solicitors in the Private Client department.

Their work involves:

  • Wills
  • Trusts & Tax planning
  • Probate
  • Planning for later life


Duties will include (but are not limited to)

  • Opening and closing files
  • Updating clients
  • Digital dictation
  • Producing and editing legal documents
  • Providing quotations
  • ID & AML checks
  • Checking of key documents
  • Taking phone calls


The successful Legal Secretary will offer the following skill set/background:

  • Prior experience as a legal secretary (ideally with at least 6 months)
  • Previous experience in a Private Client team is essential for this role.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Be presentable
  • Be accountable and take responsibility
  • Offer excellent communication skills - written, verbal and face to face
  • Confident and professional telephone manner
  • The ability to remain calm when under pressure
  • Be a keen team player
