Legal Secretary

Job description

Conveyancing Secretary

A long-established, Legal 500 firm based in Southend is currently looking for an enthusiastic Conveyancing Legal Secretary to join their property team. Due to an increase in workload, they are seeking additional secretarial support.

This firm is highly regarded in the Essex area and is committed to providing quality legal services to its broad client base of individuals and businesses.

The ideal candidate will have excellent client care skills, accurate typing/audio typing skills, and a good telephone manner.

The ideal candidate will have a positive, proactive attitude to work, and be able to work well as part of and support a busy team. Previous experience as a legal secretary within conveyancing is desired, but not essential.

This firm often provides their secretaries with additional duties that are similar to that of a legal assistant/paralegal; so this is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their knowledge within property law and potentially progress in the future!

Conveyancing Legal Secretary Duties

  • Opening and closing of client files
  • Handling all aspects of a sale and purchase transactions including ordering searches and assisting in exchange and completion
  • Preparing and amending documents such as lease extensions, deeds, completion statements and Land Registry forms, using the Land Registry portal
  • Providing secretarial support to the fee earner, including arranging appointments, dealing with client queries by phone, together with preparation of correspondence using digital dictation

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Legal Secretary to join a reputable firm and become an asset to their team. This firm understands that their employees are at the heart of their business, offering a friendly working environment and opportunities for progression.

Based in a collaborative, open-plan office which is less than 10 minutes' walk from the seafront - perfect for those lunchtime walks!

Salary: £20,000 - £24,000 (dependent on experience)

Working hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Monday - Friday)

Some flexible working options may be possible, but this is predominantly an office-based role (to allow for answering the phones and working closely with the fee-earners).

Unfortunately, this role cannot acommodate part-time hours at the moment, due to the busy nature of the department
